The awards ceremony for the winners of the second All-Russian competition "Thanks to the Internet 2016" organized by PJSC Rostelecom and the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation as part of Azbuka Interneta charity project has taken place in Moscow
More than 3, 000 applications from 76 regions of the Russian Federation have been submitted to the competition. The oldest participant is 91 years old.
Every third participant studied computer basics on his or her own, also with the help of the Azbuka Interneta training program. 70% of contest works have been submitted by pensioners who went to specialized courses. Users of gosuslugi.ru portal make 73% of all participants. 75% of works have been submitted by the residents of cities and small towns as well as rural areas.
Winners were chosen by the committee which features representatives of Rostelecom, RPF, the Russian Association for Electronic Communications and the Regional Public Center of Internet Technologies.

The results of the competition also became the basis for the rating of regions-leaders in providing computer literacy training for senior citizens. The Republic of Tatarstan where from more than 14,7% of all works were submitted became the winner in the nomination "The Most Active Region". Thus, in 2015, only 44 participants were from Tatarstan, which accounted for 2,6% of all submitted works. Top 10 regions in 2016 are: the Rostov region – 7,1%, the Tver region – 6,7%, the Irkutsk region – 4,4%, Krasnoyarsk Krai – 4,36%, the Moscow region – 4,2%, the Republic of Bashkortostan – 3,3%, the Tyumen region – 3,09%, the Voronezh region – 3,09%, the Nizhny Novgorod Region – 3,01%, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra - 2,9%.
