Rostelecom and the Russian Pension Fund have prepared a new module for the advanced Internet ABC course, “The Internet for Travel and Recreation: Subtleties and Useful Tips.” The new course is a package of additional materials for studies of senior citizens, who have learned computer basics and those who seek to expand their knowledge and to use more opportunities offered by the Internet.
The new course will introduce students to the most convenient and popular methods of booking rail and plane tickets, a hotel room or a tour and of buying theater or museum tickets in another city online. Most importantly, the materials will help accomplish those operations correctly and safely.
Over a number of years, Rostelecom and PFR have been regularly expanding the advanced course of Internet ABC with new modules. Topics of the new modules are chosen by course students and Internet users who send their suggestions via the feedback form on the website Азбукаинтернета.рф. The website contains the online version of the basic textbook, all modules of the advanced course, and the full package of materials that can help senior citizens learn new subjects – chapter-by-chapter guidelines for tutors and visual aids for every lesson.
Internet ABC materials can be used by computer teachers of pensioners both as separate courses on every topic and for additional classes.
The textbook and the same-name portal, Internet ABC, were developed consistent with the cooperation agreement, which Rostelecom and PFR signed in 2014 to teach computer basics to pensioners. The goal of cooperation is to facilitate the access of pensioners to online public services and to raise the quality of their life with computer awareness and services.
