The Russian Pension Fund and Rostelecom have held a joint online seminar for coaches and organizers of the “Internet ABC” course, a program raising computer awareness amongst pensioners. The event took place in 47 constituent territories of Russia and involved over 1,100 representatives of regional social policy ministries, employees of libraries and social institutions, and pedagogues of higher education establishments.
The seminar gave methodical recommendations for the “Internet ABC” course and shared the best available practices and experience accumulated by course coaches and organizers as of this moment. Russian Pension Fund specialists told participants about the network of the Fund’s online services.
Coaching seminars of the “Internet ABC” course have been organized due to the growing interest of many agencies. At first, the course was provided exclusively by branches of the Pension Fund and Rostelecom. Social protection agencies joined in later, and universities, civil centers, branches of the Union of Pensioners, libraries, and other entities all over Russia followed suit. More than 2,500 “Internet ABC” coaches have been registered by now.
In addition to holding coaching seminars and courses for pensioners, the Russian Pension Fund and Rostelecom continue to upgrade the “Internet ABC” textbook. This year, the expanded course acquired a new section entitled “Video-address on the Internet”. It reviews online videoconferencing programs for people who have developed basic online skills and seek to expand their knowledge.
Please note that the textbook and the Internet portal “Internet ABC” (azbukainterneta.ru or азбукаинтернета.рф) were elaborated as part of the cooperation agreement signed between PJSC Rostelecom and the Russian Pension Fund on January 22, 2014, to raise computer awareness amongst pensioners. The purpose of this agreement is to facilitate pensioners’ access to online public services and to raise the quality of their life through computer awareness and knowledge of rules of operation on the Internet.
